In addition to the city of Florence, the towns of Badia a Passignano, San Donato in Poggio and Panzano in Chianti are also popular with tourists. The region therefore has an excellent reputation throughout the country in terms of landscape and culture.

Largest province of Tuscany in the northeast

The province of Florence is located in the northeast of Tuscany and was founded in 59 AD. The city also has a famous founder, Julius Caesar.

The Vallombrosa Forest is ideal for walking, to escape the impulsive city life and to be able to hike in peace. It is popular with hikers all over Italy. The tallest trees in the country, developed hiking trails and rare plants and trees are reasons to visit the forest, which lies east of the city of Florence.

The Santa Maria del Fiore is a cathedral whose original goal was defined as the largest church in the world. In 1359 the construction of the building was completed. For a short time after opening, legend has it that it was the largest church in the world.

The Uffizi is one of the country's sights and best-known museums. The museum attracts around two million visitors every year. Works by famous architects are exhibited in the gallery. A visit to the art museum, the Accademia di Belle Arti, is also a real highlight during a stay in the region. The David of the famous Michelangelo is in the museum's premises.

The city is also particularly famous for the Ponte Vecchio, a bridge to cross the river. It is located in the city center and is the first stop in the city for many tourists. The history of the building goes back to the 13th century.

The Cathedral Square with the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore is also a suitable place for a short vacation in the region. The cathedral was built in 1296. At the same time, with a size of 114 meters, the cathedral has the largest dome in the world and is therefore reason enough for many people interested in art and culture to visit the big city. The cathedral is the city's landmark and is free for visitors.

Another attraction of the city is the Santa Croce church. This is a Franciscan church that was built in 1294. The interior of the church contains works by Italian painters and artists.

Other highlights of the city are the Ponte Vecchio and the Piazza della Signoria. In addition to wine from the region, the city's restaurants also offer a range of culinary specialties from Tuscany.
