A round trip through Tuscany
A round trip through Tuscany impresses with unique landscapes, a mild Mediterranean climate and the world-famous old cities such as Florence and Pisa. Offer to stay overnight
In the Italian region of Tuscany there are ten provinces that offer interesting things to see and beautiful nature. Arezzo, with its capital of the same name, is the easternmost region of Tuscany. Here, holidaymakers should definitely visit the Pieve di Romena, an old parish from the 12th century, located north of the capital. Also interesting is the Castello du Poppi, a medieval castle from the same era that has been perfectly preserved. The Tuscan province of Lucca is located in the northwest and is characterized by many patrician villas. The capital of the same name is located in the south of the province and is considered one of the most beautiful cities in Tuscany. Lucca is particularly characterized by a variety of landscapes with fantastic beaches and mountains up to 2.000 meters high.
A tour through the provinces of Tuscany
In the province of Pisa in western Tuscany, travelers should definitely visit the Leaning Tower, the symbol of the capital. This tower, built in the 12th century, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as are the Camposanto Cemetery and the Baptistery. The province of Siena lies between Arezzo and Pisa and offers visitors a special Gothic architectural style. The historic old town of Siena has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1995. Here visitors can enjoy relaxing walks as the center of the city is largely closed to car traffic. One of the sights in Siena is the Cathedral, one of the most important Gothic buildings in all of Italy.
Florence – explore the capital of Tuscany
The city of Florence is the capital of the Tuscan province of the same name, which is characterized by the Arno river valley and the Chianti hills. One of the most famous sights is the Piazza della Signoria, the center of the old town of Florence, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Fountain of Neptune and the famous Ponte Vecchio bridge should also be visited. It leads directly to the historic palace of the Medici, who made Florence one of the most culturally important cities in Europe in the Middle Ages.
