Hiking in Chianti is not just a highlight for wine lovers - everyone will quickly fall in love with nature, which is more beautiful and melancholic here than anywhere else.
Tuscany and the Chianti region undoubtedly look as if they were painted in reality: rolling hills, olive groves, citrus trees, cypresses, vineyards, old farmhouses and wonderful air everywhere. Hiking in Chianti and around San Gimignano, known worldwide for its excellent wine, is truly an experience that you should treat yourself to.
You walk through fragrant avenues with orange trees, past grape vines, picturesque villages with dreamy streets and along rivers like the Arno. Hiking in Chianti is fun and definitely something for every nature lover.
Hiking in Chianti - this is where it is most beautiful
There are of course many routes if you want to go hiking in Chianti. A good tip is to first explore the surroundings of Greve. There are many different walking and hiking trails to be found here. A hiking map is helpful here, but often not necessary at all, as the paths are very well signposted.
A pleasant longer walk begins in Greve and leads up to Montefioralle. If you want to hike further from there, you get to Panzano, where you can enjoy a cappuccino in the sun. An alternative is to go north from Montefioralle. You reach a deep valley after passing olive groves and visiting the Church of San Cresci. Here you can return to Greve via a sandy path.
It is also interesting if you go west from Montefioralle on the cross path. This leads past the Casa Fede and from there you have a view that extends to Monte Fili.
