Thermal baths of the Via Francigena
Piazza Giuseppe di Vittorio 1
50050 Gambassi Terme
Province of Florence
The town of Gambassi Terme with around 5000 inhabitants is located about 30 kilometers southwest of Florence on the Via Francigena, the Franconian Way, a well-known pilgrimage route to Rome. The thermal baths have been in operation since the 14th century and have of course been modernized several times. Although the town is quite small, it offers accommodation and restaurants in the immediate vicinity.
The thermal water "L´Acqua di Salsa di Pillo" flows at a temperature of around 34 degrees Celsius from the "Pillo" spring and is considered medicinal water due to its mineral content. The "Club Therme della Via Francigena" specializes in drinking cures, various therapies, inhalations, wellness, beauty and rehabilitation / fitness. There is also a sauna on offer. The pools (both indoor and outdoor) are not particularly large, but heated to 32 degrees.
It is very positive to note that the thermal baths do not appear "oversized" for the small and very Tuscan-looking place.
Where is the thermal bath?
