From Scarlino to Grosseto

From Follonica you move a little inland on the expressway. There you pass Scarlino, Gavorrano and Montepescali until you reach Grosseto. We particularly recommend a detour to Scarlino, which has retained a very medieval atmosphere and is therefore very popular with tourists. From the upper area of Scarlino you can enjoy a wonderful view all the way to Elba. From here you can easily reach Puntone with its beaches and the surrounding nature reserves for hiking.
Gavorrano, on the other hand, is located in the middle of a hilly landscape and is still very original as a former medieval fortress (Borgo). The area is characterized by viticulture. Gavorrano is also recommendable because of its typical festivals, which, like in other smaller towns in Tuscany, take place annually and attract a large number of visitors. Montepescali is also a place that, like Gavorrano, is located around a medieval fortification on a hill. The old city walls, churches and buildings shape the picture.

Before you now Grosseto We now deviate a little from our route: you should definitely visit the towns of Punta Ala and Castiglione della Pescaia on the coast. These are located northwest of Grosseto, surrounded by a green hilly landscape. Punta Ala has a large marina and is a magnet for the upper class of tourists. There are also well-known golf resorts in the area and the small shops on the promenade offer good fashion for large budgets. Regattas and equestrian tournaments also take place here regularly. Please note that visitors to the site must park outside. Castiglione della Pescaia, on the other hand, is a bit more down-to-earth. However, many of the offers here depend on the season, but you should definitely consider visiting one of the fish restaurants, as Castiglione della Pescaia, in addition to tourism, still counts fishing as its main source of income. Many visitors claim that Punta Ala and Castiglione della Pescaia are the most beautiful places on the Tuscan coast. Make up your own mind.
