The sandy beaches of Maremma in the extreme south of the Tuscany offer carefree bathing fun and relaxation.
The Maremma's natural beach offers a shallow entry into the sea, making it ideal for families with small children. Additionally, there are parking lots and vendors selling treats on the beach. South of the promenade of Lido di Camaiore there are more secluded swimming options such as the Viareggio natural beach. It is lined with pine forests, freely accessible and offers very good water quality.

The beach of Maremma shows itself from a natural and untamed side, the islands of the Tuscan archipelago, Lily, Montecristo and others are just offshore.
Likewise in the Parco della Maremma there are beaches that invite you to dream and make nature lovers happy.
The beach in Marina di Alberese or Cala di Forno is particularly impressive, where you can find crystal clear water and the beach stretches out in the shape of a crescent.
The seaside resort of Follonica, which is about 20 km away from Massa Marittima, is another highlight of the Tuscan coast in the south.
The flat coastal plain of the Maremma is located in the very south of Tuscany. It offers long, spacious sandy beaches along its beautiful coast, which are ideal for a beach holiday. The fine sandy beaches all slope gently into the sea and are also ideal for families.
They are known for their good water quality and cleanliness. Unlike many other Italian beaches, they are not overcrowded even in midsummer.
The hinterland of the Maremma is only sparsely populated. There are only a few larger towns with small hotels, holiday complexes or the typical Tuscan holiday farms in the middle of the vineyards and olive groves. A section of the sandy beaches is also protected in the Maremma Nature Park.

Best bath time
The time between April and October is best for a beach vacation. From May to the beginning of October, the temperatures of the water in the sea are also the most pleasant. Bathing pleasure is then guaranteed.
Vacationers have the choice of accommodation in the coastal towns Castiglione della Pescaia, Fonteblanda or Orbetello. Instead of large hotel buildings, there are mostly smaller accommodations and holiday apartments in the old manors in the typical Tuscan style.

The Monte Argentario peninsula with its picturesque fishing harbors and tourist resorts is also known.

Getting to the sandy beaches of Maremma
The Maremma is easily accessible from the north via the SS 1 and SS 223 highways Livorno or to reach Siena. The starting point on site is the historic city Grosseto, from which smaller roads lead to the individual coastal towns on the beaches.
The larger towns of Orbetello and the Monte Argentario peninsula can be quickly reached from Grosseto via the SS 1 in the direction of Rome.
