Aldous Huxley arrived at about the same time tuscan coastto escape the heat in Florence and paid little attention to the busy bathing activity.

In the high season, especially in August, when all of Italy is on vacation, it is very difficult to find quiet beaches in Tuscany. It is rather sleepy in Marina di Pisa with the chic Art Nouveau houses.
