What was at the top of the travel bucket list in the 70s is now celebrating its big revival! We're talking about camping holidays in Tuscany. It's easy to plan your own road trip and travel at your own pace.
To experience a varied vacation, Tuscany meets the taste for almost everyone. The provider Eurocamps has a particularly large range of campsites in Tuscany to offer.
Camping-friendly Tuscany has historic cities, delicious wine regions and of course crystal clear water with a beach. Who could say no to that.
However, there are a few special features that are particularly worth knowing for campers in this region:
Free and stunning pitches in Tuscany
Panzano
Panzano is in the north Chianti Wine region and offers a free parking space on Via Chiantigiana with a breathtaking view of the wine region. You spend the night right between olive groves and are only a few steps away from delicious restaurants.
Vinci is not only known for Leonardo da Vinci, the city is also worth a visit without the famous artist. There is a free parking space very close to the old town. The center of the pretty town can be reached on foot and you can drift between the small alleys and feel the Italian way of life.
Camping at the Leaning Tower of Pisa:
What should not be missed on a trip to Tuscany is a visit to the Leaning Tower of Pisa. With the Village Torre Shuttle campsite in Viale delle Cascine No. 86 in Pisa, you can complete your city trip perfectly in a camper. You can walk to the landmark in just 800m and discover the city.
Camping directly on the beach on Elba:
The way food is Elba-Island is located in the Tuscan archipelago and should definitely be visited on a Tuscany trip. In Lancona you can spend the night on a pitch right by the sea and walk to the beach. Away from many tourists, Elba promises to be a pearl of nature.
We have already visited these campsites ourselves:
- That would be a campsite in a pine forest near Le Marze: www.camping.it/germany/toscana/lemarze/
We personally like the area there very much, the beach is recommendable. The campsite has had good recommendations from the ADAC so far. - The La Rocchette campsite is also close to the sea near Castiglione della Pescaia www.rocchette.com/it/
This “campsite” is quite new and has a pool, restaurant and sports facilities. The sea can be easily reached on foot. The place Castiglione della Pescaia is beautiful and invites you to take a vacation. - Nearby is the beautiful place Punta Ala with the campsite Green Bay. It is located almost directly on the sea in a pine forest that borders the beach.
- Firenze Camping in Town Florence
- Camping Siena Colleverde
- Camping Maremma Sans Souci in Castiglione della Pescaia
- Village Camping La Marze in Marina di Grosseto
- Camping Viareggio in Viareggio
- Camping Boschetto Di Piemma in San Gimignano
- You can also find a large overview of campsites on camping.info or Eurocamps
Summary
Tuscany is a wonderful region to experience an unforgettable camping holiday. It doesn't matter whether you prefer to stand by the sea, in the vineyards or in the city, everything is possible.
A little tip on the side
If you are planning your trip in the off-season, we recommend the ACSI Card * to lay. This gives you great campsites at a great discount and you can use the app to check whether there is still a space available while you're on the go.
